Common Crane

Ebro depression / Signature birds / The Iberian System / The Pyrenees

The Western European population of this migratory species overwinters in the Iberian Peninsula. Long legs and necks, plumage of several shades of grey, with black, white and red facial markings. Very gregarious, almost always moves in large groups easily detectable by their repetitive and powerful calls.

Cranes spend the winter on various Aragonese wetlands, but it is during the prenuptial migration that they can be observed almost anywhere.
